- Newsletter – August 2025The annual garden party, this year held in Val Ramshaw’s garden was a great success. 34 members and guests attended and a good time was had by all. Thank you Val for hosting especially at a time when the ongoing drought has forced us all to do a lot of watering, now only possible with a watering can as we have a hose pipe ban. So now we concentrate on the Alresford Show and hope that many of our members and the general public too will enter those beautiful flowers as well as fruit, vegetables, culinary, crafts and photographs to make this yet another wonderful Show…..
- Newsletter – July 2025June was a busy month. Fifteen members accepted an invitation from Hinton Ampner to visit the house and garden during their Celebration of Flowers on Monday 9th June and it was not a disappointment. Car sharing worked well and we had an excellent guide who gave us a tour of the gardens after which we were able to see the flower displays inside the house. Our visit was followed by a talk on 12th June by Chris Skinner, Head Gardener, who also judged the Rose Show which this year was won by your Chairman, Janet Pooley. The winning entry was a David Austin rose, Roald Dahl, which it appears is one of Chris’s favourite varieties, but who was to know! …
The Society chose May this year as the month for their annual visit to Wisley and 33 members and friends and were not disappointed. Climate change has influenced the seasons, and we were able to see wisteria, still in all its glory, including the famous wisteria arch, vibrant rhododendrons and azaleas on Battleston Hill and newly emerging roses in the Bowes Lyon Rose Garden…
