Trip to Wisley 2025

The Society chose May this year as the month for their annual visit to Wisley and 33 members and friends and were not disappointed. Climate change has influenced the seasons, and we were able to see wisteria, still in all its glory, including the famous wisteria arch, vibrant rhododendrons and azaleas on Battleston Hill and newly emerging roses in the Bowes Lyon Rose Garden. The new Hilltop Learning is always an opportunity to catch up with the latest trends and horticultural knowledge and the planting is maturing well. A walk by the alpine houses and the colourful rock garden led down to the glasshouses which this year houses a National Collection of pelargoniums. A cup of tea and some retail therapy rounded off an excellent day. A visit to Wisley is a joy at any time of the year.
