Spring Show

Alresford and District Horticultural society held their Annual Spring Show on Wednesday 10 April. In spite of the weather that had caused most people’s daffodils to be over, it was very well supported. There were plenty of tulips and other spring flowers on display and several entries of large containers of spring bulbs. Late hellebores and early rhubarb enabled entries in those classes and spring flowers not included elsewhere could be arranged in a small container.

Judging was by Members’ votes and a points system was applied to find the winner.

  • Newsletter April 2024
Spring has arrived, our gardens are full of colour, the evenings are lighter and it’s still raining. But we will always find opportunities between the showers to do some gardening….
  • Newsletter March 2024
We wondered if it would ever stop raining. The garden is waterlogged and the lawn full of moss but the snowdrops have been spectacular this year and Spring has arrived with the hellebores, daffodils and primroses. We always debate whether to continue having our Spring Show in April as in past years or to bring it forward to March. We have to make a decision a year in advance, so had already decided that this year’s Show would be in April. However I think we need little convincing that global warming is having an effect so we hope that you will still be able to find plenty of entries. There will be more on this in the next newsletter. Spare copies of the schedule will be available at the next meeting. Next year it will be in March! …..
